Purpose:
I am conducting research alongside Nature Conservancy to discover migrational patterns and habitat density of hermit crabs on Palmyra Atoll. This data would be used to acquire information on how to preserve their habitats which can be extended to other islands.

In order to collect GPS points, I designed a 3D printed shell with a GPS module insert. The shell has two pieces: one for the hermit crab and the other for the GPS. The SmartShell records GPS points every four hours.
