Mars inspired rover project

fall 2023

Purpose:

The MuNCHER (Multidirectionally Navigable and Computationally Helmed Exploratory Rover) is a 4-wheel, autonomous, Mars Rover-inspired robot with a first-person VR driving experience and a soil sampling mechanism. Over a 6-week sprint, I collaborated with four interdisciplinary engineers to develop this rover, integrating a camera and autonomous capabilities.

I designed a cost-efficient, multi-cartridge soil sampling mechatronics system for $25 using Arduino and prototyping tools. I went through with the entire implementation of this feature from analysis, design and firmware.

I also implemented object avoidance using the Jetson Nano and camera system.
