analysis:

• Prior to my design, scientists would use small pvc pipes and wrap them around the leg of the albatross. This had many disadvantages as the plastic material would slip if the tag was too loose or it would cause chaffing if it was too tight. The design I made includes a cushiony, elastic silicone material that allows for extra comfort and molds to the leg’s shape. The new tag also allows faster deployment as the zip-tie holding the tag is already embedded inside.
